Saturday 11 May saw Freemasons, their friends and family gather at Guildford Cathedral for the culmination of five years fundraising for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution, at which Crescamus Lodge was well represented.
Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution
Five years is a long time, but it only feels like yesterday that the Surrey 2019 Festival in aid of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution was launched, with a target of raising £3.25 million in aid of the neediest. It was always acknowledged that this target would be very difficult to achieve. The RMBI offers support for older Freemasons, their families and the wider community. They are committed to delivering services that promote the dignity, independence and choice of the individuals they support. Person-centred care is at the heart of what they do and this is reflected in how they engage with our residents, visitors and staff.
Expectations and Memories
But now that the champagne has all been drunk, the fireworks have all gone off, the hangovers and the headaches have ebbed away and the memories and photos, all that is left are the memories and photographs of the occasion.
The eyes of the entire Province of Surrey were all fixed on Guildford Cathedral on Saturday night. The expectations were high and, quite frankly, those expectations were smashed! The venue, the food, the service, the Stewards, the numbers who booked, the Deputy Grand Master and the contingent from the RMBI and MCF all adding to a spectacular night. Then the results were announced…
Significant Success and Silver Award
Raising £3,313,470 is a truly remarkable result and Crescamus Lodge played a significant part, raising £11,596 ourselves and being awarded a Silver Award for the amount donated by the Brethren of the Lodge. Perhaps the most significant element of the five-year festival wasn’t just the money raised, but the amount of fun that was had, and the making of many lasting friendships.
Fun and Friendship
The next Surrey Festival will not be until 2030, but until then Crescamus Lodge, will continue to support local Charities and supporting our community.
